Ted Cruz Slams Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey in Hearing: “Who the Hell Elected You!?”

OPINION:

Today there is a Senate hearing going on where Twitter, Facebook, and Google’s CEOs have been subpoenaed to appear. Jack Dorsey, Mark Zuckerberg, and Sundar Pichai are currently being questioned as we are reporting this.

Our piece here contains commentary and opinion that some may disagree with and we don’t claim to be tech experts. In our view, it appears so far that many of the Democrat questioners have focused their lines of questioning either on defending actions these companies have taken against conservatives or President Trump himself or asking them what they will do more to censor.

Meanwhile, US Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) asked Jack Dorsey why they censored a bombshell article by the New York Post and why they are still locked out of their Twitter. Dorsey said the New York Post just needs to delete the original post and they can repost it but he did not explain why they can’t or won’t simply reverse the action without them having to delete this post.

This seems to us like a power play on the part of Dorsey in our view, and others may see it differently. After not getting the answers he apparently wanted, Ted Cruz blasted Jack Dorsey saying

“Mr. Dorsey, who the hell elected you? And put you in charge of what the media are allowed to report, and what the American people are allowed to hear… and why do you persist in behaving as a Democratic super PAC?”

Watch:

US Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) later asked Jack Dorsey why he has censored President Trump 65 times and Joe Biden zero times. Dorsey did not directly acknowledge the apparent bias and instead danced around the question by saying that he is only adding context to President Trump’s posts, not ‘censoring’ them.

Blackburn went on to ask Dorsey if he shares any data mining with the DNC and he said he’s not sure how to answer that question. The hearing are ongoing and it’s unlikely in our view that the Senators who do think censorship is a problem are savvy enough to actually know the right questions or get much done about it, but time will tell.

National Review also touched on the Cruz story reporting in part:

“Mr. Dorsey, who the hell elected you and put you in charge of what the media are allowed to report and what the American people are allowed to hear, and why do you persist in behaving as a Democratic super PAC, silencing views to the contrary of your political beliefs?” Cruz said during the hearing.

Dorsey maintained that the Post‘s story fell afoul of Twitter’s “hacked materials policy,” and that the policy itself should be updated.

“We recognized errors in that policy. We changed it within twenty-four hours,” Dorsey said.

The Post was locked out of its Twitter account after posting the initial Hunter Biden story, and the paper has not posted anything the platform since. Cruz pressed Dorsey as to why the Post was apparently still locked out of its account as of Wednesday.
