The Dukes of Hazzard’s John Schneider Declares ‘Narcissistic’ Hollywood is ‘Afraid to Have Independent Thought’

On Friday, ‘The Dukes of Hazzard’ John Schneider promoted his new independent film “To Die For”. While discussing the film with Fox Business Host Stuart Varney Schneider didn’t hold back on what he thinks of Hollywood.

Varney kicked off the spot by asking Schneider why Hollywood wouldn’t fund his movie. Schneider cleared the air by explaining he didn’t approach Hollywood for support for his movie.

“I’m not that naive. I know that Hollywood would not support this. Hollywood does not really support anything independent… Their public persona is so narcissistic that they don’t want anyone to know that really all they are is a line-item in some group of billionaires’ investment portfolio. They really have no global importance, as they profess to.” Schneider shared.

Varney then asked, “What do you think is Hollywood’s idea of patriotism?”

Schneider jumped right in, “Hollywood’s idea of patriotism is being able to identify and to sell to a very persuadable and active and wealthy, or having a lot of disposable income, group of people. Hollywood is about sales. You can’t blame them for that, but they’re about the bottom line because they answer to another group. It’s really just basically business… They don’t really care about these issues they claim to care about.”

Schneider then directed his comments at Hollywood ‘celebrities,’ “All the celebrities, God bless their cute little souls, they owe their soul to the company store. They’re afraid to have independent thought, they’re afraid to say something that’s outside of the consumer norm. These little fringe groups are easy to sell t-shirts to that’s the bottom line. “

Schneider then shares you can watch his movie at todieformovie.com or order the DVD at todiefordvd.com.

Varney points out that the way Schneider has gone to produce this film makes it noncancelable.

“I don’t enjoy the hypocrisy of talking against the machine publicly, and then secretly trying to make a side deal with Netflix. I don’t believe that,” Schneider explained. “I understand looking at the bottom line, but you’ve got to draw a line somewhere. I draw it at disrespecting our flag and all of those who have been willing to and have given their lives to provide us with freedoms that I know I certainly haven’t paid a dime for. I am forever in their debt.”

In a previous interview, Schneider explained, “If you are going to complain about the powers that be in Hollywood, what you really need to have already done is pick up your little shovel and your little bucket and leave their sandbox and start your own.” This is exactly what he has done.
