Tom Cotton Shuts Down Several Desperate Attempts By CBS Anchor to Blame Republicans for the Attack on Paul Pelosi

U.S. Senator Tom Cotton (R-AR) stepped into the fire on Monday and did an interview with CBS Morning’s Tony Dokoupil.

Dokoupil spent a good amount of time trying to get Cotton to place blame on Republicans for the attack on the Democratic Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi’s husband, Paul Pelosi.

Every time Dokoupil attempted to push Cotton into placing blame on Republicans, he quickly and decisively shut him down.

Cotton was ultimately on the show to promote his new book, “Only the Strong,” but Dokoupil took the opportunity to hammer him on some leftist talking points prior to that discussion.

Dokoupil first asked Cotton what his reaction was to what has been reported in regard to the attack on Paul Pelosi.

Cotton responded by telling Dokoupil that it was a “terrible crime” and pointed out that the assailant was “apparently in the country illegally.”

After Cotton attempted to point out that leftists have also been perpetrating various acts that should be held to the same standard, Dokoupil tried to sidestep that by wanting it to be separated from “everyday violent crime.”

Cotton reiterated his stance that the best way to stop acts like that from happening is to get “tough on crime.”

Dokoupil still wasn’t satisfied as he wondered if Cotton saw a connection between what happened and people “denying the results of the 2020 election.”

Once again, Cotton insisted that the solution was to get “tough on crime” and also gave an example of Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) previously using charged language.

After seeing that he wasn’t going to get the answers he was looking for, Dokoupil then pivoted to discussing Cotton’s new book.
