This morning Senator Tom Cotton was on “Face the Nation” promoting his book “Only the Strong”. During the interview, Cotton revealed that he supports Mitch McConnell remaining in his leadership position after the 2022 midterm elections.
The interview started with a discussion about the outcome of the midterm elections, a “complete disappointment” for Republicans. Cotton started off by denying that it was a complete disappointment pointing to Republican Governors who kept their positions of power, as well as Senators.
He kept his response positive, then discussed Lee Zeldin’s race. He implied that Zeldin performed well and brought up the down-ticket which helped them with four House seats.
Cotton was asked if Trump should remain the leader of the GOP. Cotton explained when out a party is out of power as the Republicans are, there is no singular leader, in his own way avoiding the question.
Margret Brennan then pressed the Senator if he thought Trump should be the automatic nominee for the GOP or face a primary. Cotton again avoided answering the question by sharing that since he opted out of running himself he isn’t going to pontificate on that.
She then asked him if he was enforcing any of the Governors he mentioned in a question earlier, Cotton again dodged the question. Cotton then directed the message back to the midterms as he shared it’s not over yet they have the run-off in Georgia to focus on instead of jumping to 2024.
Cotton sees no reason to delay senate leadership elections, he added they are all uncontested at this point. He then quoted Rick Flare, “To be the man you gotta beat the man”. He then explained that no one has stepped forward to challenge McConnell.
Cotton then said, “So I support Senator McConnell. I support the other slate of candidates, for our leadership elections. I think It’s better that we move forward with these elections so that we can move forward and focus on the Georgia run-off.”
Cotton wants the focus to be on the Georgia run-off and not on 2024 or Congress Republican leadership. He seems to be against division within the party and wouldn’t take a position on the GOP nomination for president.
With no opponents ready to take on McConnell, Cotton has thrown his support behind the current minority leader of the Senate to stay in his poison.

no respect for Cotton, he rolled over in the vote issue, would never support him for anything
no respect for Cotton, he rolled over in the vote issue, would never support him for anything. He didn’t stand strong when it was time
bad case of chickenshititus again ay Tommy?
I wonder what they have managed to dig up on Tommy Boy?
Any Gee Oh Pee senator who votes for this traitor as leader should be primaried.
Probably nothing new has been dug up; Cotton is just comfortable with politics as usual and isn’t up for re-election until 2026; unless he imagines himself a contender for the Presidential election in 2024. He would definitely need the backing of the McConnell RINO $$ machine then – should tell you all you need to know about him.
Another RINO. I think next election I will vote Democratic to get rid of all the republicans and start over in 2026
Until recently, I respected Sen Cotton but he has just proven himself to be another political hack. How anyone could support a self-serving power-hungry lifer politician McTurtle is beyond me. Cotton is probably afraid that if he votes against McTurtle and the demotion fails, he will lose his committee seats and funding.
well, I’ll be damned…bye bye tom cotton.. what the hell do they have on you?
Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expect different results
