Tom Homan Supports Michelle Malkin’s Call for a National “Stand with ICE Day”

‘America First’ proponent Michelle Malkin took to Twitter today in full support of ICE, calling for a ‘Stand With ICE’ day. Malkin says in her tweet that former director of ICE Tom Homan would attend the event. Her tweet appears as a rallying cry, stating “Antifa & #AbolishICE read for more attacks. Would be great if ConInc would lift a finger to help us stop #OpenBoardersInc, wouldn’t it?” The tweet was a response to one of her followers who declared “We need more #StandWithIce rallies”

The follower’s tweet was a response to her earlier tweet below of the New York Times article “Flood The Streets”. Malkin has held a long time tough stance on immigration, which she has claimed has pushed her out of the mainstream media. Malkin is a former Fox News commentator, and previously was a writer for The Virginian Pilot. Malkin is not afraid to share her stance on immigration you can see an example in a piece she put out yesterday.

Michelle has done this with her eyes wide open, knowing that her stance on immigration is not popular with who she refers to as ‘ConInc’, (Conservative Inc). Conservative Inc. is a term used by many who feel that the broad Republican activist movement isn’t doing enough to stem the tide of immigration that they claim is hurting American workers and culture.

The New York Times piece in Michelle’s tweet reports the ramped up operations of ICE, using BORTAC in sanctuary cites called “Operation Palladium”. BORTAC agents are SWAT teams that are normally posted to the border to handle risky smuggling, rescue, and intelligence operations. This announcement came last month. The article put out today details more on the operations in ‘Sanctuary cities’:

ICE leadership has requested at least 500 special agents who normally conduct long-term investigations into dangerous criminals and traffickers to join the enhanced arrest campaign rolling out in sanctuary cities, according to an internal email reviewed by The New York Times.

This move has made tensions between Trump and ‘Sanctuary cities’ increase as the New York Times piece puts it:

The expanded surveillance operations and added manpower are the latest intensification in a conflict between the Trump administration and cities that refuse to help with deportations, including Boston, New York, Detroit, Chicago, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Atlanta, New Orleans and Newark. The effort began last month and will run through Dec. 31, according to the internal email, which says the initiative is called Operation Palladium.”

The article goes on to say, “the latest directive is simple: Arrest as many undocumented immigrants as possible, and “flood the streets,” as one official involved said his bosses had put it.

“Because immigration law violations are civil infractions rather than criminal ones, the officers deployed in the expanded ICE operations cannot, in most cases, obtain warrants to forcibly enter places where their subjects are hiding. Instead, ICE officers are embarking on the aggressive surveillance campaign, which involves closely watching some individuals for more than 12 hours a day in the hopes of arresting them outside their homes or workplaces.”

It seems that the intensification was reported in the New York Times article that in Chicago they are making “10 arrests per day,” which is more than usual. In response to this, the Mayor of Chicago, Lori Lightfoot has said “I question the level of effectiveness other than scaring people… if you’ve got the facts, and you’ve got the probable cause, get the judge to sign the order. If that happens, then there’s no choice. But we’re not going to do it simply on the basis of an ICE agent’s signature, in a world in which ICE has become highly politicized.” Lightfoot has been a frequent critic of the Trump administration’s immigration policies.

According to the NYT piece, ICE is “targeting individuals who, because of sanctuary policies, were let go by local police officers even though the agency had asked for them to be temporarily held in custody. While some of those targets have been apprehended in the effort, the majority of the arrests have been “collateral” — undocumented individuals who were not targeted, but who happened to be present during an attempted apprehension.”

As we reported earlier, Mark Morgan, the acting Commissioner of U.S. Customs and Border Protection announced today that deportations are higher than arrests at the border at this time. Also, yesterday the Supreme Court ruled in a 5 to 4 decision that illegal immigrants can be prosecuted for identity theft. This divided decision shows just how polarizing the topic of illegal immigration is, even with our highest court.

We will have to see what becomes of #StandWithICE day, and who else will stand in support of ICE and the Trump administration’s hardline stances on illegal immigration and the deportation processes.
