Tragic Nashville Christian School Shooting Leads to at Least Three Deaths

UPDATE, 2:15 PM ET:

Metro Nashville PD shared more information. They confirmed 3 students and 3 adult staff members were fatally shot. They also revealed that the shooter was a 28-year-old Nashville woman.

“UPDATE: 3 students & 3 adult staff members from The Covenant School were fatally shot by the active shooter, who has now been identified as a 28-year-old Nashville woman.”

“Two MNPD officers who entered the building and went to the sounds of gunfire engaged the shooter on the second floor and fatally shot her.”

UPDATE, 1:30 PM ET:

Three adult staff members and three children are reported dead after the “active shooter” event at The Covenant School. The shooter is reportedly a female who appears to be in her teens, she was shot and killed by police. Police are working to identify the shooter. Currently, there are no other reported gunshot victims.

At least three children and the gunman are dead after an “active shooter” event at The Covenant School in Nashville Tennessee, this number could change as reports come in.

Vanderbilt University Medical Center spokesperson John Howser shared that three “pediatric patients were transported to Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt, all having suffered gunshot wounds. All three were pronounced dead after arrival.”

Officials shared that the gunman was killed by police.

Nashville policies shared at noon eastern time:

“An active shooter event has taken place at Covenant School, Covenant Presbyterian Church, on Burton Hills Dr. The shooter was engaged by MNPD and is dead. Student reunification with parents is at Woodmont Baptist Church, 2100 Woodmont Blvd.”

The school is a private Christian School located in south Nashville. The school includes grades pre-K through sixth grade.

As the news comes in many are sharing about it as well as condolences.

U.S. Senator Bill Hagerty (R-TN) shared:

“Devastated and heartbroken about the tragic news at Covenant School. I’m grateful to law enforcement and first responders for their heroic actions. I am monitoring the situation closely, and my office is in contact with local officials & available to anyone needing assistance.”

White House Reporter Simon Ateba tweeted about the news:

“BREAKING: HEARTBREAKING – At least three children dead, the shooter also dead in Nashville school shooting. The incident took place at Covenant School, Covenant Presbyterian Church, on Burton Hills Dr. in Nashville. Police said Student reunification with parents is at Woodmont Baptist Church, 2100 Woodmont Blvd.”

Rawalerts shared a video of the response to the active shooter along with:

“Active shooter event taking place with multiple casualties reported inside at the Covenant School. Currently numerous law enforcement and other agencies are responding to a mass casualty event with multiple children shot inside the school. The shooting took place inside at the Covenant School in Nashville Tennessee, with at least three children have been killed with the fourth one being the shooter with many more others injured.”
