The 45th President Donald Trump again dominated the Conservative Political Action Committee (CPAC) 2024 presidential election straw poll by garnering 59% of the vote.
Florida GOP Gov. Ron DeSantis came in a distant second-place finish again as well with 28% of the vote at the event which is being held in Orlando, Florida.
The third-place finisher was former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, who came in third with 2% of the vote.
No other potential candidate got more than 1% of the vote, although there were a handful of other possible candidates who got votes.
In February of last year, Trump won the straw poll taken at the same event with 55% support, indicating that his support has now increased.
Trump garnered 70% of the ballots cast at a July CPAC event in Dallas, Texas, while DeSantis received 21% at that event.
As we previously reported, Trump spoke yesterday at CPAC and as the keynote address, it was a long speech.
Many feel he is more inclined to run for president again in 2024 than they did before the speech. Words like “presidential” are being tossed around in addition to folks saying Trump is on message and framing his points in a way that may be more receptive to the broader audiences.
Some may feel that’s watering down things, while others may see it as a way to win back elections for Republicans in 2022 and possibly the White House in 2024.
Democrats know that they are doing badly in the polls right now for many obvious reasons. This is why they fear a 2024 Trump campaign. They also know he will be loaded with money and ready to spread the word with his new Truth Social platform that is still in beta testing. Other alt tech sites have popped up too, some of which “censor” more than others.
This will help bolster Trump supporters’ confidence that they can once again communicate with each other without fear of bans. This may also bolster claims from left-leaning media outlets of more “disinformation” spreading.
Many of those outlets have also been showing their fear of a Trump 2024 run by highlighting all the other possible Republicans who may run “if” Trump does not. It seems they’d rather it be anyone by Trump. So in the eyes of conservatives, it must be Trump.
