Trump Jr. Calls Out CNN For Not Reporting Swalwell Story: ‘They Might as Well Be the CCP’s Marketing Department’

Yesterday, we reported on an Axios story that said among the most significant targets of a political intelligence operation run by China’s main civilian spy agency was Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.).

A Chinese national named Christine Fang helped place at least one intern in Swalwell’s office, according to two people, and interacted with Swalwell at multiple events over the course of several years.

Former acting DNI Richard Grenell pointed out today that “CNN national security reporters @ZcohenCNN and @kylieatwood haven’t tweeted that @ericswalwell is caught up in a spy scandal.”

“They try and help him by ignoring his role in a national security crisis but it only shows their bias. Everything they do is to cover for Democrats,” Grenell added.

Donald Trump Jr. retweeted Grenell and said, “CNN is as bad as the Chinese spies at this point, but unlike the spies, CNN doesn’t even pretend to want to protect America’s interests. They might as well be the CCP’s marketing department.”

Swalwell has attempted to shift the blame for the story to President Trump, hinting in an interview with Politico that he was behind the story.

“I’ve been a critic of the president. I’ve spoken out against him. I was on both committees that worked to impeach him. The timing feels like that should be looked at,” Swalwell told the left-wing publication yesterday.

Fox News has also reported that CNN has completely avoided the story altogether, both on-air and online, including in morning shows today.

They noted that Swalwell has become a television star during the Trump presidency as one of the prominent lawmakers who pushed the Russian collusion narrative.
