This morning Senator Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) was on America’s Newsroom with Ed Henry and Sandara Smith. Hollen was asked about witnesses in the Senate trial. As of now, there is no plan to call additional witnesses and they are using all of the information provided by the House Managers and the Trump legal team. Van Hollen hints that more Republicans are warming up to having witnesses testify in the Senate.
Smith plays an Alan Dershowitz clip from yesterday’s trial in the Senate. Dershowitz says in the clip “Let me repeat, nothing in the Bolton revelations even if true would rise to the level of an abuse of power or impeachable offense… You cannot turn conduct that is not impeachable to impeachable simply by using words like Quid Pro Quo and personal benefit.”
Smith then asks Van Hollen how would he would counter that. Van Hollen claims “this is the third different standard Dershowitz has applied to impeachment, the grounds of impeachment over the years.” Van Hollen goes on and calls Dershowitz’s defense of Trump, “absurd” and it would “set a terrible precedent”.
President Donald Trump must have been watching he responded to the interview in a tweet. Trump calls Fox News pathetic for having “Democrats like Chris Van Hollen” on and brings up that The DNC decided not to have any primary debates on Fox News. Trump then questions “what the hell has happened to @FoxNews.” Trump then says that anchors such as Chris Wallace need to be on ‘Fake News’ CNN or MSNBC[sic]. Trump asks How’s Shep Smith doing? He then says this will be the beginning of the end for Fox. See Tweet Below:
…..So, what the hell has happened to @FoxNews. Only I know! Chris Wallace and others should be on Fake News CNN or MSDNC. How’s Shep Smith doing? Watch, this will be the beginning of the end for Fox, just like the other two which are dying in the ratings. Social Media is great!

Media Right News reported on the updates on Shep Smith since he left Fox News.
Jeff Zucker, the president of CNN is quoted as saying “When he’s available, he is somebody who is very talented, and I would be very open to talking to him,” in a Hollywood reporter article, shortly after Shep’s last day with Fox News. As of this Monday, it was reported by the Daily Beast that MSNBC is also looking to hire Shep. The rumor is if Shep were to come on to MSNBC that they would be moving Chuck Todd’s low rated 5 PM show to a 9 AM morning slot in order to have Shep host a prime time show.

Bill Hemmer took over Shep’s time slot. The show debuted on January 20th. According to Daily Caller Hemmer’s ratings ‘crushed’ Shep’s. ” Hemmer’s show raked in 1.8 million viewers in the 3 P.M. E.T. time slot, including 269,000 viewers in the crucial age 25-54 demographic. This was a 37% increase in total viewers from Smith’s final year, where the long-time Fox News host averaged just under 1.3 million viewers, including 201,000 in the age 25-54 demographic. “
