Tucker Carlson Skewers Kelly Loeffler About Insider Trading Claims as She Deflects to Coronavirus Concerns

Tonight, Georgia Senator Kelly Loeffler appeared on Tucker Carlson’s Fox News show to defend herself amid allegations she used her position to sell off stocks after a Coronavirus briefing. One key point in the interview was when Carlson asked, “You received notice (stocks were sold) on Feb. 16. Then you issued a video (March 10) saying the economy’s totally fine. in retrospect, do you think you should’ve hinted it’s not fine?” Loeffler, who claimed to have no say in the sales, deflected, “I trust the professionals… we should be talking about Coronavirus now.”

Another key moment in the interview came when Tucker talks about how 27 of her 29 stocks were sold in a “pretty strong market” and “a lot of people weren’t doing what you did.” You can see her smile slightly and then she shakes her head as if to catch herself. He asks her, “Who specifically made that decision and on what basis?” She responds, “that would be the financial advisor.”

Tucker also asked about Richard Burr and whether he should keep his Senate seat after this? She responded by saying that she’s a “political outsider” and “can’t predict where political outcomes might evolve.” Journalist August Takala lamented, “If being an “outsider” means she’s totally ignorant, why is she in the Senate?”

Tucker repeatedly said that he wasn’t accusing her, but made it clear that he was skeptical before and I don’t think her responses convinced him much otherwise. It seems that she will have a real battle on her hand to retain the seat at this point in the primary against Doug Collins. Watch the full video and decide for yourself.
