Even though U.S. House Rep Tulsi Gabbard was a Democratic presidential contender, and is a far-left politician on most issues, many in both parties thought she was different. Many people thought maybe she wasn’t so bad because she voted ‘present’ instead of guilty against President Donald Trump in the House impeachment vote. As reported by Vox:
Her decision, she said, came down to not being swayed by the evidence of misconduct collected by the House Intelligence Committee during the impeachment inquiry and laid out in a lengthy report. “After doing my due diligence in reviewing the 658-page impeachment report, I came to the conclusion that I could not in good conscience vote either yes or no.”
She went on to say she believes Trump is “guilty of wrongdoing,” but that she had serious concerns about the process itself, calling it “a partisan process, fueled by tribal animosities that have so gravely divided our country.”
Many Republicans though because of Tulsi Gabbard’s Twitter feud with the twice-failed presidential candidate, former secretary of state, and former First Lady Hillary Clinton, that maybe she wasn’t as bad as some of the other Democrats, or at least not as ‘swampy’.
Well, Gabbard has thrown in the towel. She is giving in to the swamp and dropping a defamation lawsuit against Hillary Clinton citing Coronavirus concerns and the need to beat Donald Trump. Yes, it appears, Tulsi is just another swamp Democrat, by the definition most Republicans would consider. Washington Examiner posted:
“While they remain certain of the action’s legal merit, they are just as certain that this new COVID and post-COVID world require them to focus their time and attention on other priorities, including defeating Donald Trump in 2020, rather than righting the wrongs here,” Gabbard’s attorneys said of the Hawaii Democrat and her presidential campaign committee in a court filing Wednesday.
The takeaway here could be that the most important thing to look at in a politician, is values, not just subtle hints or random outlier moments. Tulsi is just another Democrat.
