Viral New York City McDonald’s Axe Wielding Attacker Released without Bail

A New York City man who pulled out an axe at a McDonald’s in the city was released without bail. The man destroyed some of the interior of the McDonald’s while threatening others inside the restaurant.

Michael Palacios, the alleged hatchet handling man broke a couple of tables and a glass wall inside the McDonald’s. He was freed within hours of being arraigned and charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief and possession of weapons. Under the new bail reform laws, neither charges are eligible for bail.

Palacios has claimed the only reason he took the axe out was that he was attacked. In the video, you can see where he is attacked before going back to his backpack and pulling out the axe. It is being reported that he was rejected by a woman at the restaurant which spurred everything.

Uber Eats deliveryman Ruben G told the New York Post, “So, basically he got into an argument with a girl, and then the girl rejected him. She didn’t want to talk to him. He kept going at her.”

Palacios gave an interview to ABC 7. During the interview, he tells the reporter, “I did what I needed to do.” He added, “The most important thing is don’t be afraid to defend yourself.”

Liberal cities have moved forward with bail reform which has allowed many people arrested to be released without bail. New York City is seeing some people being arrested over and over again being let go with no bail.
