In an NBC “Meet the Press Now” interview today with Kristen Welker, former National Security Advisor John Bolton said that he would consider running for president against Donald Trump.
Bolton told Welker that he would “absolutely” consider getting into the 2024 presidential race because he believes that Trump should just sit down and shut up after the #TwitterFiles reveal.
“I’d like to see Shermanesque statements from all the potential candidates. If I don’t see that, I’m going to seriously consider getting in,” Bolton explained when asked by Welker what he would have to see to declare his candidacy.
Bolton shared a clip from the interview in a tweet and said, “When you challenge the Constitution itself, that is un-American.”
“If the current GOP presidential candidates don’t repudiate Trump, I’m prepared to get in the race,” Bolton insisted.

Bolton appears to be answering the call of U.S. Sen Mazie Hirono (D-HI), who previously asked if Republicans were going to stand up to Trump over his Truth Social post.
In the post, Trump declared that “A Massive Fraud of this type and magnitude allows for the termination of all rules, regulations, and articles, even those found in the Constitution.”
“Our great ‘Founders’ did not want, and would not condone, False & Fraudulent Elections!” Trump pointed out.
In her tweet condemning Trump’s comments, Hirono asked a pair of questions, beginning with, “Are Republicans going to finally stand up to this guy?”
“Or is calling for the termination of the Constitution going to become acceptable rhetoric in the Republican Party?” Hirono wondered.
Hirono shared an article from “The Hill” which attempted to whitewash the #TwitterFiles release and justify the censorship that occurred.
