White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre dismissed a question today about the #TwitterFiles reveal by categorizing it as a “distraction” and “old news if you think about it.”
Jean-Pierre also took offense to the way the reporter initially phrased a previous statement she made and accused the reporter of mischaracterizing it.
In regards to the reveal, Jean-Pierre said, “So we see this as an interesting, a coincidence if you may, that Twitter would so haphazardly push this distraction that is full of old news if you think about it.”
“At the same time, Twitter is facing very real and very serious questions about the rising volume of anger, hate, and anti-semitism on their platform and how they’re letting it happen,” Jean-Pierre insisted.

However, Musk recently announced in a tweet that “Hate speech impressions (# of times tweet was viewed) continue to decline, despite significant user growth!”

U.S. House Rep Lauren Boebert weighed in on Jean-Pierre’s comments in a tweet as she reported, “The White House just called the Twitter Files ‘old news’ and ‘a distraction.'”
“If you ever wondered how little Democrats cared about the First Amendment, now you know,” Boebert pointed out.
