During a recent White House press conference, Fox News White House Correspondent Peter Doocy asked Press Secretary Jen Psaki, “How can you guys say, President Biden, was not in close contact with Speaker Pelosi when there is video of the speaker kissing him?”
Psaki quickly moved to dismiss Doocy’s question with the definition of “close contact” as defined by the CDC. “Well Peter, the way that it is defined by the Center of Disease Control and their definition of it is fifteen minutes of contact within a set period of time, ah, and within six feet. It did not meet that bar.”
Psaki went on to say, “It does not mean that no one around the world won’t get covid who doesn’t have a close contact. It just means we are defining for all of you, whether the president and their interaction met the definition of CDC of close contact.”
To some, it may appear that Psaki herself had a hard time believing what she was saying but only spewing the approved talking points for covid. She tried to justify the definition and their stance by giving her a short sarcastic exception in between flouting the definition from the CDC.
This stance from the White House appeared to be ridiculous to some. Gary Brandon shared on Twitter a picture of the embrace shared by President Joe Biden and Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi along with. “So we’re clear, according to the White House and the CDC, this is not “close contact” and creates no risk for the spread of Covid. Just a reminder… a. All Presidents lie b. Kids in NYC schools still have to mask outdoors c. Jen Psaki is leaving to work in “news””

Another Twitter user Eddie Shearer, “Nancy Pelosi tested positive for Covid shortly after she kissed Joe Biden, but according to Jen Psaki this is not considered “close contact” because the CDC says they weren’t close for at least 15 minutes. So for your Covid safety, please keep sex to 14 minutes or less.”

While the White House sticks to its talking points, it seems absurd to many outside of the bubble.
