The Joe Biden White House is reeling after the United States Supreme Court threw cold water on one of their major stances when they overturned Roe Vs. Wade recently. Some are saying the White House has gone too radical, while radical Democrats are furious that Biden doesn’t want to stack the Supreme Court and isn’t, in their eyes, doing nearly enough to ensure women can have abortions.
The Biden Administration has just unveiled an action plan to empower the U.S. Department of Justice to do what it can as well, such as ensuring abortion pills are legal if they can. We foresee pushback from the GOP on this as well as Democrats saying that it isn’t enough.
In this case, Biden probably feels like he’s losing support from both sides, while Democrats are reportedly unlikely to rewrite their likely “fate” in the upcoming mid-term elections, although it remains to be seen for sure. The Hill reported in part on White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre’s recent statement throwing cold water on desperate Democrat ideas:
“With this proposal — we understand the proposal is well intentioned, but here’s the thing: It could actually put women and providers at risk. And importantly, in states where abortion is now illegal, women and providers who are not federal employees, as you look at the federal land, could potentially be prosecuted,” she told reporters on Air Force One.
“As we understand why they would put forward this proposal, there’s actually dangerous ramifications to doing this,” she added.
It remains to be seen what the true fallout will be from the recent SCOTUS rulings and possible future rulings, many of which appear to favor the right.
Many Republicans would argue that the conservative justices are not attempting to favor the right, but the constitution, and that the left no longer believes in truly and correctly interpreting that document anymore, although some leftists may disagree with this assessment.
Joe Biden and his party, not to mention Vice President Kamala Harris, face unrelenting headwinds, such as record illegal border crossings, Harris the “Border Czar” not really doing anything substantive about that (in our view), and an angry left and right. If he does run in 2024, the GOP will have to try really hard to mess up their chances, but don’t sell them short either. Both parties are good at almost never being the better side, but rather the worse side, in most voters’ minds.
