Although U.S. Senator Joe Machin (D-WV) did vote against former President Donald Trump previously by finding him guilty in impeachment trials, other signs have pointed to him being more moderate. He has signaled along with U.S. Senator Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ) that he may be against being the deciding vote in radical partisan bills, now that the Democrats barely have control of the U.S. Senate.
Manchin, who is a Democrat in a pro-Trump state, is likely to face a challenger anyway if he decides to run again in 2025. It’s a shock that he remains so popular in a pro-Trump, Republican state like West Virginia after voting to find former President Trump guilty in Senate trials previously. Nevertheless, he is not happy with his own party either, particularly the situation we are now facing at the southern U.S. border under the Joe Biden administration.
Manchin told CNN that the situation at the border is indeed a crisis, although the Biden administration itself has shied away from the word that describes the situation they arguably created. From CNN:
Others like Sen. Joe Manchin have gotten Biden’s attention. Manchin, the West Virginia Democrat who backed the 2013 bill, says he would do so again. But he also said the situation at the border is a “crisis,” going further than the White House, and said he would wait to get briefed before assessing the administration’s response.
“Whatever message was sent — it was sure interpreted the wrong way,” Manchin said. “It’s a crisis — oh it’s a crisis.”
The Washington Examiner put a magnifying glass on the Manchin situation:
“Oh, it’s a crisis.” @Sen_JoeManchin breaks with @JoeBiden and calls border situation “a crisis.”

The Biden border crisis has been in our view, by design. Joe Biden chose to stop the building of former President Trump’s wall. Many reports showed that the trenches dug where wall hadn’t been installed yet were actually helping illegal immigrant coyotes find their way across, and many immigrants told U.S. news sources that they came because of Joe Biden’s softer polices.
Biden denies being complicit in this crisis, won’t call it a crisis and Democrats have blamed former President Trump for the “non-crisis” despite their policies being the opposite of Trump’s. White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki even stated for the record that they won’t be taking any advice from the Trump admin on how to handle illegal immigration at the border.
Whether the Biden administration is trying to prove something to their radical left-wing base of Democrats and Libertarians who want open borders, want more Democrat votes, or a combination, one thing is for sure, this crisis needs to end. Hopefully moderate Dems like Manchin can get something done because lately it seems like all the Republicans do is whine and complain on Twitter.
Many, like Ronna McDaniel of the RNC, U.S. Rep Madison Cawthorn, and others love tweeting about the hypocrisy of the left, but rarely offer bold solutions. Others, in a growing group of America First right-wingers though, have indeed begun calling for a ten-year immigration moratorium as we have reported on extensively here.
We will need more bold action if anything is to ever be solved in this crisis which is crippling our nation, damaging the change to ever have any real bipartisanship, and destroying what’s left of American heritage, history, and culture. Some may argue that that is exactly what radical Democrats want. If that’s the case, it may long past due for Democrats like Manchin and Sinema to wise up and switch parties.
