This morning, former Senator Bob Dole passed away at home in his sleep. Dole enlisted in the U.S. Army 79 years ago in 1942. He was elected To the U.S. House of Representatives, and also to the U.S. Senate, where he served as Senate majority leader for a couple of periods throughout his 27 years in the Senate.
Former President Trump issued a statement on the passing of the late Kansas Senator.
“Bob Dole was an American war hero and true patriot for our Nation. He served the Great State of Kansas with honor and the Republican Party was made stronger by his service. Our Nation mourns his passing, and our prayers are with Elizabeth and his wonderful family.”

Dole supported and endorsed Donald Trump in 2016 and again in 2020. It was announced earlier this year that Dole had lung cancer.
This year we also lost Norm MacDonald earlier this year. While on SNL Macdonald did many impressions of Dole, which Dole seemed to enjoy, and even made an appearance on SNL with Macdonald right after losing the 1996 presidential election.
Twitter user Josh Jordan shared, “This clip of Bob Dole and Norm Macdonald a week after Dole lost in 1996 is so great and it’s beyond sad to lose both of them this year.”
