Still not perfect with his other immigration ideas, U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) is getting bold. Only a few Republicans have even had the guts to call for a moratorium and now Joe Manchin has too.
Although this call comes with other more traditional, not-so-great immigration ideas, this puts nearly the entire GOP on notice. Only a few Republicans have mentioned a moratorium. Some, like Candidate for Congress in IL-16, Catalina Lauf, claim to be tough on the border, but then promote eating Guatemalan beans like immigration is some kind of joke to her. Others may indeed get the last ‘Lauf’. Pun absolutely intended.
Pete D’Abrosca pointed this out this morning:
“Welcome, @Sen_JoeManchin! Great to have you.” Says D’Abrosca, after a tweet about Manchin said: “Manchin also entertains a 90-day moratorium on immigration. “Something has to be done, and it has to be expedited. I’m just throwing out ideas.” D’Abrosca then added:

Manchin (Democrat) just took a stronger stance on immigration than @CatalinaLauf (“Republican”).

Are the parties switching? Hardly. West Virginia is a very red state and Manchin knows this. But he’s also popular there for some reason which may be why he got away with his Trump impeachment vote. This may beg the question of whether Manchin switching parties would even be the right thing at all. The GOP, with a few exceptions, most of which we’ve previously reported on, is just as bad if not sometimes worse on immigration.
Most Republicans think it’s a great thing to let over a million immigrants come each year as long as it’s legal, because they think it helps grow the economy. They don’t seem to care about the cultural and electoral consequences which are ultimately a very permanent thing.
But now he is seeing how damaging President Biden’s actions are the nation. He speaks in the video below slamming the border crisis.
Time will tell if Biden will wake up to the border crisis, swallow his anti-Trump pride and do the right thing. It’s clear that Vice President Kamala Harris who chuckles and giggles almost every time she speaks isn’t going to do much about it.
Meanwhile, immigrants are being flown all around the country, dropped off in red states, and pushing American foster kids out so they can take their place.
