The investigation into possible violation of sex trafficking laws involving Matt Gaetz isn’t over. Last week, Gaetz’s ex-girlfriend was granted immunity before testifying to a grand jury in Orlando, Florida.
Last May, Gaetz associate Joel Greenberg, made a plea deal with the Justice Department. Greenberg pled guilty to a myriad of charges, including sex trafficking a minor. As part of the deal, he will now be assisting the Justice Department in their investigation. Greenberg got 20 charges dismissed as well.
We reported earlier, “[Matt] Gaetz isn’t mentioned in the 86 pages of plea deal documents released last Friday.” However earlier this year the Daily Beast reported on a letter from Gaetz “wingman” Joel Greenburg which named Gaetz and a participant in the sex trafficking of the minor. Greenburg wrote, “On more than one occasion, this individual was involved in sexual activities with several of the other girls, the congressman from Florida’s 1st Congressional District and myself,” Greenberg wrote in reference to the 17-year-old.”
He continued, “From time to time, gas money or gifts, rent or partial tuition payments were made to several of these girls, including the individual who was not yet 18. I did see the acts occur firsthand and Venmo transactions, Cash App or other payments were made to these girls on behalf of the Congressman.”
A spokesman for Gaetz denied his involvement saying, “Joel Greenberg has now confessed to falsely accusing an innocent man of having sex with a minor.”
According to CBS, the unnamed ex-girlfriend may have traveled with Gaetz to the Bahamas in 2018 and 2019, along with two other women. One of whom was allegedly in a sexual relationship with Gaetz and 18 at the time of the trip. Prosecutors are probing to determining if that sexual relationship began when she was 17. They are also trying to determine if any women were paid for sex or trafficked across international borders or state lines.
In response to the immunity granted to the ex-girlfriend Gaetz lawyer, Isabelle Kirshner made the statement, “We have seen no credible basis for a charge against Congressman Gaetz. We remain steadfast in our commitment to challenge any allegations with the facts and law.”
CNN commentator and lawyer, Tristan Snell shared, “BREAKING – Matt Gaetz’s ex-girlfriend not only testified before grand jury — she was granted full immunity. She’s fully cooperating: testimony, documents (texts, emails, maybe call logs or financials). She had receipts. You don’t get full immunity without receipts.”

Congressman Ted Lieu, called for Gaetz to be removed from the House Judiciary Committee while he is under investigation by the department he is supposed to oversee.
“Republican Representative Matt Gaetz is entitled to the presumption of innocence. But he is not entitled to sit on the @HouseJudiciary Committee that has direct oversight over the very Department investigating him for sex crimes. GOP Leader McCarthy needs to remove Gaetz ASAP.”
