11,600+, or Almost 30% of Students Opted out of Mask Mandate in West Ada School District in Idaho After ‘Mandate with Option’

Nearly 30% of West Ada’s School District’s students opted out of the mask mandate as lines to do so wrapped around the building. Below you can see just a small part of the students and parents waiting to opt-out.

“UPDATE: 11,600 West Ada students now exempt from mask mandate”

Over 11,600 of the 40,000 students in the West Ada school district opted out as clearly they have had enough of having to wear masks in schools. This comes as school boards and states around the country are forcing children to wear a mask in school without an opt-out option.

As we previously reported, “Because the Governor of Idaho refused to ban mask mandates in public schools, different districts and cities are doing all different things this school year. Although Republican Governor Brad Little hasn’t mandated anything, he left parents “to the wolves” as many who didn’t want mandates have had to attend school board meeting after school board meeting. Even one Republican-leaning city, Nampa, which did not institute a mandate, had one charter school which did. Parents were caught off guard when Idaho Arts Charter pulled that last-minute change. Charter schools don’t have to go along with the rest of the city, because each one has its own board.

But for today’s story, in neighboring Ada County, the West Ada School district tried to do the same thing Idaho Arts Charter did last night, with a last-minute change from optional masks, to mandatory. But because so many parents showed up to protest the idea, they allowed for parents to opt-out of the mandatory masks rule for schools in that district, which covers Meridian, Idaho.”

Most students appear to have mask fatigue and would like a normal school year back however many school boards feel differently. Some school boards have been pressured by the state to follow their orders causing them to cave.
