20,000 Military Service Members Could be Discharged for Refusing Vaccine

20,000 military service members will be facing disciplinary action, and could potentially be discharged for refusing to take the Covid-19 vaccine.

“WASHINGTON (AP) — All U.S. military services have begun disciplinary actions and discharges for troops who refused to get the mandated coronavirus vaccine, officials said, with as many as 20,000 unvaccinated forces at risk of being removed from service.”

John Kirby, who is a Pentagon chief spokesman, said, “What he would tell these individuals if he had the chance to speak to them directly is to get the vaccine, if they are medically eligible. Get the vaccine because it’s the best way to protect themselves and their units. That’s the readiness concern — getting the vaccination rate as close to 100% as possible.”

Thousands have sought religious exemptions, as 103 Marines in the Marine Corps have already been discharged. The army has reprimanded close to 3,000 soldiers for not getting the vaccine. Some service members have been able to get exemptions whether that be medical or religious.

Kirby said, “We obviously hope that they will, but if they don’t, it is a lawful order and it has to be obeyed because it is a valid medical requirement.”

Cleary thousands of service members do not see this as a valid medical requirement as they have refused to comply.

As Russia moves tens of thousands of troops to Ukraine’s border, the Biden Department of Defense will be discharging servicemen and women who refuse to get the vaccine. Some might argue that isn’t a strategical move.
