In an interview published on Monday, former President Donald Trump said, “I don’t think Bibi ever wanted to make peace. I think he just tapped us along. Just tap, tap, tap, you know?” This comes after Trump has had a recent falling out with the former Prime Minister of Israel.
Trump continued, “My whole life is deals. I’m like one big deal. That’s all I do, so I understand it. And after meeting with Bibi for three minutes … I stopped Bibi in the middle of a sentence. I said, ‘Bibi, you don’t want to make a deal. Do you?’ And he said, ‘Well, uh, uh uh’ — and the fact is, I don’t think Bibi ever wanted to make a deal.”
It appears that Trump may agree with some who believe Israel doesn’t fully support the U.S., but instead uses it for their own gain. In a new twist, Trump praised Mahmoud Abbas, the Palestinian National Authority President saying, “I thought he was terrific. He was almost like a father. Couldn’t have been nicer. I thought he wanted to make a deal more than Netanyahu.”
The Middle East has suffered war for decades but Trump did make strides in having peace in the Middle East. It appears based on Trump’s interview, he believes Israel was the biggest obstacle to achieving peace between them and Palestine.
