Don Lemon has survived the cuts at CNN, for now. Brian Stelter and Jeffrey Toobin haven’t seen so lucky. Stelter’s last episode of “Reliable Sources” will air this weekend and it was announced Toobin wouldn’t be returning after his vacation.
The new man in charge of CNN, Chris Licht, has vowed to “clean up” the network and would be moving away from opinion broadcasting.
CNN has had terrible ratings, plunging to less than half of Fox News and so this doesn’t come as too much of a surprise. The Network also gave the ax to CNN+ shortly after its launch earlier this year.
With the knowledge that Licht is moving the network away from partisan broadcasting, many were speculating that Lemon would also be getting his papers as well.
CNN has faced a few scandals of late and Licht is working to bring a revival back to the network.
According to a RadarOnline source, “Don has been told he’s safe. But, like many, he has been left under no illusions that he cannot use the airwaves of CNN to spout opinion and be a bugle of the liberal set. Don was reminded CNN is a bipartisan news network like no other.”
The message was delivered loud and clear: if he wants to do liberal opinion, he should try and get a job at MSNBC.”
Can Lemon tone down his partisan rhetoric, and bring views back to his show? He has at least been given the chance to do so.
