U.S. House Rep Dan Crenshaw (R-TX) today apologized for his comments where he trashed the McCarthy dissenters and called them “terrorists.”
During a previous interview on the Guy Benson show, Crenshaw claimed that those on the far right wouldn’t be happy with any Speaker as he listed off past Speakers and said U.S. House Rep Steve Scalise (R-LA) would be next if they elected him instead so that was why they were sticking with McCarthy.
“We cannot let the terrorists win,” McCarthy said at the time.
Speaking to CNN’s Jake Tapper today on “State of the Union,” Crenshaw tried to downplay the situation as he apologized for what he said.
“Look, things get heated and things get said. Obviously, to people who took offense by that, it’s pretty obvious that it’s meant as a turn of phrase,” Crenshaw insisted.
After complaining about things that he is called by “that wing” of the party, he then said, “I don’t want them to think that I actually think they are terrorists.”

Crenshaw also appeared on CNN and told Manu Raju of those who were dissenting, “They are enemies now. They have made it clear that they prefer a Democrat agenda than a Republican one.”
Fox News’ Tucker Carlson offered his opinion on those comments from Crenshaw as he said on his Fox News show, “He went on CNN to call his opponents ‘enemies of the state.’”
“What you just saw is the snarling face of the donor class,” Carlson noted.
