The ever vocal author Stephen King addressed rumors that he has departed from Twitter:
“There are persistent rumors that I have left Twitter. I have not. I may do so eventually, there are many things about the Musk iteration of the site that I don’t care for, but that day is not today. You don’t fix a thing by leaving it.”
Twitter user @TaraBull808 replied to King, “The fact that you can’t see the irony in being allowed the freedom to disagree without being suspended is comical.”
As King shared that he isn’t a fan of everything that CEO Elon Musk has done with Twitter, he also isn’t planning on leaving just yet. From the sounds of it, he wants to make a difference and believes that being on the site will have more of an effect.
When Musk proposed charging for a premium Twitter membership called “Twitter blue”, King didn’t like the idea, or the price that had been suggested of $20 dollars a month. After a little scuffle, Musk decided to lower the cost to $8 a month. King laughably suggested that Twitter pay him for his account.
In November, King applauded Musk for the success of one of his other companies, Tesla, but shared that he didn’t think he was a good fit for Twitter. Musk replied that he was open to suggestions.
“I think Elon Musk is a visionary. Almost singlehandedly, he’s changed the way Americans think about automobiles. I have a Tesla and love it. That said, he’s been a terrible fit for Twitter. He appears to be making it up as he goes along.”

It seems that Musk may be a fan of King’s, as he does seem to respond to him quite frequently. Or, perhaps Musk just wants all notable people to stay on Twitter, regardless of political leaning. Time will tell if King stays on Twitter, or if it is just an empty threat to possibly leave.
