Although Bill Gates is no longer running Microsoft, he did help found it and has had a feud with Elon Musk. Now, possibly in an unrelated twist, Musk, and Twitter are potentially gearing up to sue Microsoft.
Microsoft announced that it was dropping Twitter from its advertising platform as of April 25th, it is speculated this is because of a new API fee.
Twitter CEO Elon Musk replied to the news, “They trained illegally using Twitter data. Lawsuit time.”
We will see if the dispute actually ends up in court or if Musk and Microsoft come up with a different solution.
Twitter isn’t alone in making the move to ask companies to pay for the information they harvest from them. Reddit also announced it was going to start charging for companies access to its data that is used to train AI.
With more artificial intelligence programs being released for public use, it doesn’t seem like too much of a surprise that these changes are coming from social media giants like Twitter and Reddit.
Musk and Gates, who is the former Microsoft CEO, have taken shots at one another over the past few years. It seems that the current situation between Twitter and Microsoft is unlikely to have anything to do with the spat between the two.
