With news of more layoffs pending it seems that Twitter’s CEO Elon Musk plans on doing some hiring this year as well.
Twitter user unusual_whales asked, “Thanks @elonmusk. Will Twitter be hiring in 2023?”
Musk replied, “Yes”
Reports from just a couple of days ago share that Musk is planning to lay off even more of his Twitter workforce, which is smaller than it was a decade ago.
According to Insider estimates, Twitter is around 2,000 employees.
In November Musk shared, at least part of the reason for the massive layoffs:
“Regarding Twitter’s reduction in force, unfortunately there is no choice when the company is losing over $4M/day. Everyone exited was offered 3 months of severance, which is 50% more than legally required.”

Lawsuits have since been filed by former employees. Recently Twitter had a win as the potential class action lawsuit was stymied and those in the suit were directed they would need to litigate individually.
With the possibility of Musk moving Twitter’s headquarters as well as the drastic changes, he has made since taking over the Twitter workforce seems to have changed quite a bit.
The Twitter rollercoaster has been an interesting one to watch, we expect more good things from Musk ask he tries to move the social media platform to one of more open discussion and the free exchange of ideas.
