After On Patrol Live’s Amazing Ratings Kick-Off, Reelz Channel Announces Addition of Daytona Beach PD Amid ‘Woke’ A&E Lawsuit

Reelz Channel’s number one most-watched show “On Patrol Live” is adding another police department to their lineup.

According to an announcement made by Reelz on Facebook, the Daytona Beach Police Department will debut on this weekend!

“We are very excited to announce the Daytona Beach Police Department‘s debut with On Patrol: Live this weekend through #Biketoberfest. Be sure to tune in and check us out Friday and Saturday evening on #REELZ! #OPLive #OPNation #OnPatrolLive Every Friday & Saturday 9e|6p.”

Last weekend “On Patrol Live” added the Toledo Police Department’s gang unit to their lineup.

How the police departments that are chosen to be a part of the show is explained as below:

“Showing the nation’s rich regional diversity is fundamental to ON PATROL: LIVE and drives the selection process for the departments appearing on the show. Producers reach out across the country – from the East to West coasts, the South to the Midwest, rural, urban and suburban America – seeking departments that reflect the country’s diverse character. This diversity is showcased by the officers with whom the ON PATROL: LIVE camera crews ride, and by the women and men up the chain who command them, giving the audience a comprehensive view of law enforcement officers on patrol across America.”

The police departments do not have editorial control over the content aired according to the show’s website.

The show airs Friday and Saturday nights starting at 9 PM EST.

Reelz channel has been sued over the program, as A&E filed a federal lawsuit in August alleging, “brazen theft of AETN’s intellectual property”. A&E hosted a show that was similarly called “Live PD”.

A&E pulled the show off the air two years ago amid rioting and protesting over the death of George Floyd. The protests called for police reform and defunding of police departments, and A&E appeased them by terminating the show.

Dan Abrahms has worked to bring the show back since it was removed Reez was willing to work with him. A&E has no intent to bring back “Live PD” but it seems also doesn’t want anyone else to show police departments in a positive light.

We are unaware of any resolution in this matter and “On Patrol Live” had continued to air.

The first two weekends the show aired the ratings were phenomenal, although they have come in some, it is the top-rated show on Reelz, with the second being “On Patrol: First Shift”. “First Shift” plays some of the same clips that show on “On Patrol: Live” and many times give resolutions they weren’t able to air because of time.

Many people enjoy “On Patrol: Live”, they encourage viewers to engage with them online using the hashtags #OPNation and #OPLive.
