Andy Biggs Will Not Vote to Raise Debt Ceiling, Says Debt is Top National Security Threat

U.S. House Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ) announced on Twitter that he will not vote to raise the debt ceiling. He called the national debt a “top national security threat” and shared he believes Congress “owes the American people responsible fiscal policy.”

“Our national debt is a top national security threat. I have never voted to raise the debt ceiling in my time in Congress – even while President Trump was in the Oval Office – and will continue not to for the same reasons. We owe the American people responsible fiscal policy.”

This stance is not a new one for Biggs, he has never voted to increase the national debt.

This reminder from Biggs comes while Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) and President Joe Biden have been meeting for several days to hammer out a deal on the debt ceiling. Secretary of the Treasury Janet Yellen has been warning Congress that the U.S. could possibly default on debts as early as June 1st if the debt ceiling isn’t raised.

While it isn’t clear if that will actually happen the possibility has many on edge. Wall Street and Main Street are both watching to see if an agreement is made.

McCarthy will need as much support as he can get. While Republicans do hold the majority, it is very slim. Many on the left don’t want Biden to make many concessions to McCarthy. Many on the right want cuts made to help with what they see as out-of-control spending.

U.S. House Rep. Pramila Jayapal made comments to CNN indicating that she believes some may riot over cuts to social programs.

Since 1960 the debt ceiling has been raised 78 times according to the U.S. Department of Treasury website. We will see when and how a deal is reached and if the United States defaults on any of its debts.

McCarthy is probably not pleased with Biggs but it’s unlikely to be a huge shock. Biggs pushed hard to stop McCarthy from being speaker of the house in the first place.

  1. Andy “My Way or the Highway” Biggs, YEA? And everyone else can get screwed? C’mon man…

    1. Every WILL be screwed if the Dims are able to prevent a spending reduction. The dollar and economy are being destroyed by loose fiscal policy. Almost everything the Federal government does is worthless anyway, from sending endless money for the Biden/S0ros War in Ukraine to Green Energy Scam “Incentives.” The freedom caucus is trying to get spending under control so everyone’s savings isn’t wiped out. The Dims want a “Great Reset” to crash the economy and rebuild a socialist utopia in its place.

    2. You with you lack of knowledge and basic reasoning skills cannot understand the situation nor comment on it like an adult.

    3. Tell us how debt we cannot recover from which dilutes our currency and swipes money from the private sector helps people.

    4. So you seem to think that we need to just keep spending more than we make?? I see you’re a brain dead libtard fool. This is going to rev up hyper inflation you nut job.

    5. Stop believing the BS from DC. They lie all the time.

  2. The deal when McCarthy got the Speaker’s Chair was that only a few members would be enough to trigger another Speaker vote. The Freedom caucus should use that as leverage to force McCarthy to hold on and resist compromising with the Dims. He should hold the line on the original bill that passed the House or lose his chair.

Who is investing in T-bills anyway? I wouldn’t You’re funding the Beast.

  3. Marjorie the Divorcee didn’t take long at all to flip for the Global Banking Cartel. She’s so sweet!

    1. She is just another RINO now.

    2. Yeah, she’s as rino as they come, a charlatan.

    3. I realized what a “big fake” MTG was when she campaigned for her “obvious crush” (if not paramour) to be Speaker of the House. She’s just a prostitute to the system…a swamp honey. I absolutely can’t stand her, and Georgia Conservatives should kick her to the curb….oh wait…that takes honest elections. This is what happens when you send even good people to Congress. They get infected with the same old same old. WHEN WILL AMERICA FIGURE OUT WE MUST HAVE A NEW CONSERVATiVE PARTY?

  4. The Congress Critters need to raise the debt ceiling so that they can continue to get their salary increases, extra benefits and kickbacks from Ukraine.
Let the government default the same way they forced American businesses to default during the scamdemic.

    1. Yeah, they didn’t mind bankrupting people for a fake scamdemic, we need to get rid of the rulers and get back to a constitutional republic.

      1. Yep. Somewhere along the line the American people got convinced their hired help were “leaders”. I hear it all the time, Americans calling for “leadership”. The founders are spinning in their graves. All their sacrifice was so their progeny could willingly bend knee to the elites.

  5. I remember when Iceland was in this situation. They chose to default and renegotiate their national debt, they put the central bankers in prison, and they bounced back in only a few years. A national default is not the Armageddon they want us to think it is.
