Young gave Spotify an ultimatum to remove Joe Rogan’s podcast or he wanted his music off the platform. Spotify decided to keep Joe Rogan on their platform and allowed Young to cancel himself. Young wrote, “I want you to let Spotify know immediately TODAY that I want all my music off their platform. They can have [Joe] Rogan or Young. Not both” to his management team and record label.
Even the hosts of “The View” supported Spotify, in keeping Rogan’s podcast defending the decision with the first amendment. Young may not be too familiar with the first amendment as he has only been an American citizen for a short time. Young became a citizen in January of 2020.
It doesn’t look good for the musicians, as they may be picking a battle they are bound to lose. We will see if any other “classic” artists join in.
