Peter Frampton Throws Temper Tantrum in Solidarity with Neil Young Threaten to Pull Music From Spotify Over Joe Rogan Podcast, Although Barry Manilow Disputes Report that he Did the Same

UPDATE 5:24 EST: Barry Manilow disputes the claim that he wanted to join Neil Young in removing his music from Spotify.

“I recently heard a rumor about me and Spotify. I don’t know where it started, but it didn’t start with me or anyone who represents me.”

Barry Manilow and Peter Frampton have decided to join in with Neil Young and demand Spotify remove Joe Rogan’s podcast or they’ll remove their music.

Frampton tweeted “Good for you Neil. I’ve always been an Apple guy for streaming. No Joe Rogan for me thank you! @neilyoung @SpotifyUSA

Liberal activist Amy Siskind shared the news about Barry Manilow on Twitter, “Barry Manilow joining Neil Young and pulling his music from Spotify. @barrymanilow I can’t smile without you, and fortunately was already streaming you this month on Apple.”

Young gave Spotify an ultimatum to remove Joe Rogan’s podcast or he wanted his music off the platform. Spotify decided to keep Joe Rogan on their platform and allowed Young to cancel himself. Young wrote, “I want you to let Spotify know immediately TODAY that I want all my music off their platform. They can have [Joe] Rogan or Young. Not both” to his management team and record label.

Even the hosts of “The View” supported Spotify, in keeping Rogan’s podcast defending the decision with the first amendment. Young may not be too familiar with the first amendment as he has only been an American citizen for a short time. Young became a citizen in January of 2020.

It doesn’t look good for the musicians, as they may be picking a battle they are bound to lose. We will see if any other “classic” artists join in.
