Biden Floats Unproven Claim About Trump Before Cutting Florida Rally Short Due To Downpour

Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden had a rough rally today in Tampa, Florida when he was forced to cut the event short following a downpour.

As the AP reported, Biden picked up his binder and dashed off the stage as the rain came down, scattering the crowd of people who had gathered near the stage to hear him speak in addition to the 285 cars the Biden campaign said were in attendance.

Prior to the mad dash, Biden criticized President Trump about his views on “Climate Change” calling it a “crisis” and that the president thinks it’s a “hoax.”

“Well guess what? Speaking of hoaxes, remember what he said about the increasing violent hurricanes and the frequency, he actually said we should detonate a nuclear bomb over the Atlantic,” Biden claimed.

In August 2019, Axios reported that “President Trump has suggested multiple times to senior Homeland Security and national security officials that they explore using nuclear bombs to stop hurricanes from hitting the United States.”

Trump denied the claim and said, “The story by Axios that President Trump wanted to blow up large hurricanes with nuclear weapons prior to reaching shore is ridiculous. I never said this. Just more FAKE NEWS!”

Axios reporter Jonathan Swan insisted, “I stand by every word in the story. He said this in at least two meetings during the first year and a bit of the presidency, and one of the conversations was memorialized.”

Snopes, however reviewed the claim and could not independently verify the claims of anonymous sources cited in the Axios story, or claims contained within documents they had not seen.

They ranked the claim “Unproven” although they said the rating could change if corroborating information becomes public, of course no evidence has come forward.
