Bitter Over being Removed from House Intel Committee, Swalwell Makes the Rounds Decrying it as ‘Political Vengeance’

U.S. House Rep Eric Swalwell (D-CA) isn’t happy that he has been removed from the House Intelligence Committee, he seems to be making the media rounds to make sure you know how he feels.

Swalwell believes he was removed over political vengeance, this goes contrary to the messaging that is coming from Speark of the House Kevin McCarthy (R-CA).

McCarthy shared the letter he sent to Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries about removing Swalwell and Adam Schiff (D-CA) from the Intelligence Committee. McCarthy shared that “integrity matters more,” than the years the pair have put in on the committee.

Swalwell shared the letter and McCarthy’s comments adding, “This rejection is based on a claim that the Washington Post independent-fact checker gave 4 Pinocchios. Speaker Boehner and Ryan, both Gang of 8 members, appointed me to Intel with access to the same facts McCarthy is distorting. He can keep me off Intel, but I’m not going away.”

On Tuesday evening, Swalwell was on “The Last Word With Lawrence O’Donnell” slamming McCarthy over his removal from the intel committee. He accused McCarthy of abusing his power “to exact political vengeance”.

He also brought up the fact check by the Washinton Post in an effort to bolster his claims of optical vengeance. Swalwell shared that McCarthy is “going to regret the day he gave me more time… I’m going to do everything I can over the next two years to hold McCarthy and the people he struck this corrupt bargain with accountable.”

Last week Swalwell made a stop on “The View” to bash House committee assignments specifically slamming Paul Gosar and Marjoire Taylor Greene.

Toward the end of the statement, they give Swalwell his chance to share his feelings about being removed. Swalwell claims that McCarthy’s statements that have been made about a briefing from the FBI are inaccurate. He also shared that as soon as he was made away of the Chinese spy that was helping his campaign he worked to help the FBI. He then said, “It looks to me like political vengeance.”

While taking questions about removing Schiff and Swalwell from the intel committee McCarthy doubled down on his statements about why he has removed Swalwell. “If you wanna talk bout Swalwell, let’s talk about Swalwell, ’cause you have not had the briefing I had. I had the briefing and Nancy Pelosi had the briefing from the FBI. The FBI never came before this Congress to tell the leadership of this Congress, Eric Swalwell had a problem with a Chinese spy until he served on intel.” This runs contrary to Swalwell’s claims.

“So it wasn’t just us who were concerned about the FBI was concerned about putting a member of Congress on the intel committee, that has the right to see things that others don’t because of his knowledge and relationship with a Chinese spy.”

“They bright it to the works of the leaders. I’ve got that briefing, so I do not believe he should sit on there, that committee. I believe there are 200 other democrats that can serve on that committee.”

Swalwell is taking this move very hard and he is going to make sure everyone hears him.

During a House Democrat press conference, Swalwell reiterated that McCarthy, “will regret giving all three of us more time on our hands.”
