Black Teen out on Bond, Accused of Murdering a Man then Coming back Two Days Later and Shooting a Witness Multiple Times

Eighteen-year-old Parys Burks-Henderson is accused of a murder that took place on February 6th and attempted murder of a witness two days later at the same apartment complex.

Burks-Henderson was out on a personal bond for criminal mischief. He was also completing deferred adjudication for breaking into a home in January 2021.

On Sunday, February 6th, police responded to a shooting at 1221 Redford at around 11:40 p.m. Witnesses told police Mr. Cantu got into a physical altercation with Burks-Henderson. Cantu was shot multiple times and Burks-Henderson fled the scene. Cantu was pronounced dead at the scene by Houston Fire Department paramedics. Witnesses identified Burks-Henderson as the alleged shooter.

Two days later on Tuesday, February 8th police responded to a report of another shooting this time at 1201 Redford around 11 a.m. The victim was a 22-year-old male who suffered multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to a hospital and was listed as in critical condition. Witnesses identified the alleged shooter as Burks-Henderson.

“ARRESTED/CHARGED: Parys Burks-Henderson, 18, is arrested and charged in two related cases: the fatal shooting of one male at 1200 Redford on Feb. 6 & the shooting of another male at 1201 Redford on Feb. 8.”

Witnesses told police that Burks-Henderson allegedly walked into the victim’s apartment while the victim was sleeping and shot him. Investigators determined the victim was a witness to the fatal shooting that took place on February 6th.

According to one witness, “He walked into his apartment, walked back into his bedroom. A witness heard him say, ‘I bet you won’t run your mouth no more,’ and then he heard the shots.”

It appears that Parys was planning to leave town as his family had sent him money for a bus ticket before he was arrested.

Burks-Henderson was arrested on Thursday, February 10th. The judge, in this case, denied bond for the murder suspect on Friday, February 11th.

These stories seem more and more commonplace as repeat offenders are given low or no bond amounts or some sort of parole instead of jail time. Nancy Pelosi may say that ‘defund the police’ is not the position of the Democrat party but it appears the message that many are sending is no time for the crime and it appears to some that criminals are well aware (in our opinion).
