Canceled late night host James Corden has sold his Los Angeles mansion for $17.1 million. Corden and his family had recently returned to the United Kingdom after Corden filmed his last show of The “Late Late Show”.
Corden and his wife listed the property earlier this year in February, asking $22 million for the lavish Brentwood property. It had been made available in October of 2022 to qualified buyers in an effort to sell the property without placing it on the public market. The property has sold for nearly $5 million below asking.
Corden has claimed he was leaving The Late Late Show as he was ready to return his family to the United Kingdom in order to raise his children near their grandparents.
Corden told Jimmy Fallon, “”I’m just leaving the show primarily because we’re a long way from home, and we really want our children to know what it’s like to grow up in London, to have a solid relationship with their grandparents, and that is time that you don’t get back. So however hard it is to go, I’m completely certain that it’s the right thing to do.”
Around the same time that Corden started looking for a buyer for his Brentwood home, the owner of many New York City restaurants Keith McNally announced in a viral Instagram post that Corden was banned from Balthazar over his verbally abusive behavior towards staff.
McNally eventually forgave Corden for his behavior after Corden called him to apologize for the way he had treated the staff. The ban was short-lived last around seven hours.
Corden has left the United States for his home country of The United Kingdom, and doesn’t appear to be much love loss over his departure.
Corden’s show was losing up to $20 million a year.
