Dave Chapelle Attacked at Show, Chris Rock Jumps on Stage and Jokes ‘Was that Will Smith’

Tuesday night, Dave Chapelle was attacked on stage at the Hollywood Bowl during the “Netflix is a Joke Fest”. 23-year-old Isaiah Lee rushed Chappelle onstage and tackled him. Lee had a replica gun with a knife inside that could pop out. He has been arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon.

After the altercation, Chris Rock, who had performed earlier, got back on stage shook hands with Chappelle, grabbed the mic, and asked “Was that Will Smith?” Smith slapped Rock at ‘The Oscars’ after Rock made a joke about his wife, and now it seems he may have emboldened others to attack comedians for jokes they don’t like.

Jamie Foxx and Busta Rhymes helped Chappelle when the attack occurred. After the attack, Chappelle said, “Whenever you’re in trouble, Jamie Foxx will show up in a sheriff’s hat.” He then brought him back on stage and thanked him for his assistance.

‘Entertainment Weekly’ reported, “I thought that was part of the show,” Foxx said, before the pair also recalled seeing Busta Rhymes approach them to help with the situation while backstage. “I’ve had an incredible time. This man is an absolute genius. We’ve got to make sure we protect him at all times, man.”

“I’ve been doing this 35 years. I just stomped a n—a backstage. Always wanted to do that,” Chappelle added. “I seen Busta Rhymes there, like, ‘That’s how you do it, dog.'”

Chappelle also joked, “It was a trans man” while talking about the attack. The man who attacked the comedian dislocated his arm, in one of the videos above you can see his arm appears to be out of place and facing the wrong way as he is being loaded into an ambulance.

In the past, Chappelle faced backlash over his transgender jokes made in his Netflix special that was released last year. George Takei was ratioed after taking a swipe at Chappelle after the special was released.

Free speech is under attack, and many people are sick of it. Billionaire Elon Musk had his offer to buy Twitter accepted and this move has many on the left reeling. Many organizations are now pressing advertisers to make demands to protect them from free speech on Twitter.
