Democrat Senator Mark Warner Admits Trump Was Right About TikTok, ‘Enormous Threat’

On Fox News Sunday, Shannon Bream asked Senator Mark Warner (D-VA), Chair of the Senate intelligence committee about TikTok.

Bream opened the segment quoting Warner, “As painful as it is for me to say, if Donald Trump was right and we could’ve taken action then, that’d have been a heck of a lot easier than trying to take action in November of 2022.”

Bream then asks if Washington simply did not listen because of their distance for the messenger. Warner answers with, “I think Donald Trump was right. TikTok is an enormous threat.”

Warner continues on calling TikTok a threat on two levels. It collects hoards of information, he mentions American children and describes that they are able to gather the keystrokes. He tells parents of TikTok users they should be concerned, all of the data is being stored somewhere in Bejing. Currently, the Justice Department is trying to work on a solution to this.

Warner then moves on to the second problem. “TikTok in a sense is a broadcasting network” that is a part of the Chinese communist party and they will be able to control what content is promoted, such as content that promotes Taiwan as really a part of China. Which would pale in comparison to Russian propaganda according to the senator.

In 2020 former President Donald Trump announced publicly he was considering banning the platform, it was even proposed that an American company purchase TikTok however that never manifested. TikTok wasn’t banned and two years later it seems Congress is now taking this security threat seriously.

It remains to be seen what action will be taken by Congress and the Justice Department, but Warner’s statement says it all, it would have been a “heck of a lot easier” if they had only taken action in 2020 under Trump’s leadership.

Bream went on to discuss other topics with the Senator, you can see the full interview below:

  1. It’s a shame that the biggest threats that Americans face, are government-controlled “schools” and the democrat party itself.
