Reports are coming out that Democrat House members of Congress may try to expel and kick out Republican Congressmen Matt Gaetz (R-FL) and Jim Jordan (R-OH) citing the 14th amendment, section three as their justification.
Freshmen Rep. Cori Bush (D-MO) said in a tweet yesterday, “Tomorrow, I’m introducing my resolution to expel the members of Congress who tried to overturn the election and incited a white supremacist coup attempt that has left people dead. They have violated the 14th Amendment. We can’t have unity without accountability.”

We can’t have unity without accountability.
Section three of the 14th amendment states, “No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any State, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any State legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any State, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof. But Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability.”
It essentially is being interpreted that Congress can remove any government official if they have engaged in or supported a rebellion or insurrection. Some Democrats seem to believe those who objected to the electoral count in various states like Congressman Jim Jordan (R-OH) or Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) supported an insurrection which some believe occurred Wednesday at the Capitol.
Getting enough votes for this resolution could be hard as it is difficult to make the case that Congressman who objected to the election results wanted or caused Trump supporters to storm the U.S. Capitol building.
We will have to see if the resolution does pass and who is kicked out of office if anyone. This could be counter-productive as it would only cause more anger by Trump supporters for removing their Congressmen.
