Congressman Doug Collins (R-GA) who is the Ranking Member on the House Judiciary Committee appeared on Fox & Friends and spoke about the State of the Union Address and House Speaker Pelosi’s behavior. “She symbolically tore up the House rules. She symbolically tore up due process. She symbolically tore up the Consitution and how we have now lowered the standard for impeachment out of the House to a petty partisan fight and that’s what the founders didn’t like … So her simply tearing up the speech last night, which by the way is not simply a carbon copy. The speech he gave to her was a signed copy of the commemorative speech … This shows how much they disdain this president.” View his statement here:

By throwing due process to the wayside, she’s been tearing up our Constitution for the last five months. #SOTU pic.twitter.com/gqDmm9w0nn
Last night, Collins tweeted, “Ripping up the president’s speech is a new low, even for Speaker Pelosi. But it doesn’t change the facts: America is more safe, secure and prosperous than ever before.”

According to The Hill, Kellyanne Conway has denounced Pelosi for tearing up Trump’s speech. “‘I think it shows you how petty and peevish and partisan the Democratic Party has come,’ Conway said on ‘America’s Newsroom’ on Fox News. ‘And for all the people out there who fancy themselves the armchair psychiatrist trying to analyze certain people, they ought to shift their craft over to Nancy Pelosi.’ Conway said she believes Pelosi should be censured by the House or that the Senate should pass a resolution ‘denouncing her behavior last night.’”
Speaker Pelosi still stands by her actions and disagrees with Republicans that called her performance dishonoring of the House. According to ABC News, “Pelosi contended that Trump ‘disrespected the chamber’ and used it ‘as a backdrop for a reality show’ for a speech ‘that had no connection with reality.’”
She added, “I felt very liberated last night. If that is what he is going to do, if that is what he is going to say as he’s taking away disability benefits from people on Social Security, or he is dismantling Medicaid, or he is in court trying to undo the pre-existing condition. The list goes on and on. I tried to find one page I could spare that didn’t have a lie on it.” View the video of her tearing up Trump’s speech and the Senate Republicans statement on the matter below:
