Elizabeth Warren Accuses GOP Sens of ‘Blocking Common Sense Gun Safety Legislation Against the Will of the People’

Following yesterday’s Texas Elementary School shooting massacre, the fever pitch for gun control from the left has reached a new level.

U.S. Sen Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) today quote tweeted a Bloomberg tweet that said, “Polling shows that 90% of Americans want their federal lawmakers to take steps to prevent gunmen from perpetrating horrific violence.”

Warren responded in the quote tweet by hurling an accusation at her GOP colleagues in the senate.

“Let’s be clear: Republican Senators are blocking common sense gun safety legislation against the will of the American people,” Warren declared.

Democrats are now focusing on trying to pass two bills through the Senate that would provide “universal background checks.”

U.S. Sen Chuck Grassley (R-IA) said of one of the bills in December, “This bill is hostile toward lawful gun owners and lawful firearm transactions.”

“So-called universal background checks will not prevent crime and will turn otherwise law-abiding citizens into criminals,” Grassley insisted.

U.S. House Rep Cori Bush (R-MO) pushed yesterday for the Senate to abolish the filibuster in order to get the bills passed.

“Today, I spoke at schools across St. Louis about joy and hope, to later see the devastating news of yet another school massacre. Our work is in saving lives, but the Senate’s inaction is failing. No excuses. Abolish the filibuster and pass meaningful gun legislation. Now,” Bush said in a tweet.

Meanwhile, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) attempted to offer his condolences in a tweet yesterday instead of making it political and was met with liberal outrage.

“Horrified and heartbroken by reports of the disgusting violence directed at innocent schoolkids in Uvalde, Texas. The entire country is praying for the children, families, teachers, and staff and the first responders on the scene,” McConnell said in a tweet that was badly ratioed.
