Ex-House Rep. Katie Hill Has Her Old Gov’t Twitter Account ‘Hacked’ After She Brags About Producing New Movie

It was announced yesterday that former California Democratic House Rep. Katie Hill was going to have a movie made that will be an adaptation of her forthcoming book, “She Will Rise: Becoming a Warrior in the Battle for True Equality,” which is based on her rise and fall in politics.

Hill tweeted out the news yesterday, saying, “I can finally announce another exciting project! I’m so honored to be played by the iconic Elisabeth Moss, and thrilled to work with this incredible team. Guess I’m about to add movie producer to my resume…”

Not long thereafter, several tweets appeared on her old government Twitter account by a “former staff” calling out the actress of the film, the supporting company, and Hill herself.

“Katie’s former staff here. Disappointed in so many folks – including Elizabeth Moss, Blumhouse, & Michael Seitzman – regarding today’s announcement,” the tweet began.

“No one should have to put themselves in harm’s way for the public to understand a simple truth: Katie Hill is not a hero for women. We deserve heroes who embody our values even in the most difficult moments,” read another part of the tweet.

Another part brought up her time in government, saying, “Katie Hill was never investigated by the House Ethics Committee, nor has she been held accountable by anyone other than herself. We encourage everyone to reflect deeply before taking her word at face value.”

The last part referenced the now mostly dormant #MeToo movement that took center stage during the Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh hearings in July of 2018.

“Enough is enough. In order to advance the #MeToo movement, we must be willing to acknowledge the problematic behaviors among those in our own communities. Only then will we see true progress. #TimesUp#MeToo,” it read.

Hill tweeted out not long thereafter thanking “all who let” her know that her “government official twitter account was hacked.” She said that control of her “account was immediately handed back to the House Clerk when I resigned, including password changes and access restrictions.”

She then lamented that “God knows who hacked it from there” and that she has reported it to Twitter. The tweets remain active however.
