39-year-old FBI agent Richard Trask was charged with, “assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder” on Monday. This charge is not related to the Whitmer kidnapping case but instead, it was a domestic incident with his wife.
A former FBI agent seems to be worried about how this could affect the Whitmer kidnapping case. Former agent Andrew Arena said, “It’s the last thing you want for a major case like this. Any time you give the defense any ammunition it’s not good.”
Though agent Trask was released he can’t own or carry a firearm. “If you can’t carry a weapon, then you’re not going to work as a street agent,” said former special agent Arena adding that he will be suspended or put on restrictive duty.
We will have to see how this will all play into the case as this could help the defense’s argument. No matter what, it seems more and more people are becoming suspicious about the FBI.
