Former Clinton and Obama White House Offical Dies from Air Turbulence Injuries Sustained on Private Jet

Dana Hyde, 55 died after sustaining injuries on a private jet. The Jet hit turbulence and Hyde was thrown, the plane diverted and an ambulance took her to the hospital in Hartford, CT where she passed away.

Hyde was special assistant to the deputy US attorney general under Bill Clinton’s administration. She was also a senior policy advisor at the State Department during Barack Obama’s administration. She was also counsel for the 9/11 commission.

The private jet is owned by the company her husband, Johnathan Chambers, worked for called Conexon, a rural broadband consulting firm. Her husband and son were both on the flight with her, neither of them sustained injuries nor did the flight crew.

The Bombardier jet was flying from Keene NH to Leesburg VA. After the turbulence, the plane was diverted and Hyde was taken to the hospital where she passed away. The medical examiner’s office found she had died from blunt-force injuries.

Chambers sent out an email to Conexon employees and clients and gave details on the incident:

We were returning home when the plane suddenly convulsed in a manner that violently threw the three of us. My wife was badly injured. The pilots made an emergency landing. An ambulance was waiting. Dana was taken to a hospital, but the injuries were too severe and she died that night. Dand was the best person I ever knew. She was a wonderful mother to our boys and she was accomplished professionally. She loved and was beloved.

Investigators with the National Transportation Safety Board announced Monday they are looking into “a reported trim issue” that was known before the turbulence.
