Former NFL Player Hospitalized after Heroically Saving His Children From Drowning

Former NFL running back Peyton Hillis was hospitalized Wednesday after he saved his children from drowning at a Pensacola, FL beach.

Hills was airlifted from the beach and taken to the hospital where he was placed in ICU. Hillis is still in critical condition, his uncle Greg Hillis provided an update on him saying:

“I just wanted to let everyone know on Razorback Nation that Peyton is doing better. He’s still in intensive care and having some problems with his kidneys and his lungs but the doctors say he is improving. I just wanted to head off any rumors that may be started. I’m sure he would want everyone to know that he appreciates all of the prayers thrown up on his behalf!!!”

His college team tweeted about the positive news sharing:

“Thinking about our man @thepeytonhillis. Encouraged to learn he’s doing better after his heroic act saving his family.”

Reports share that his children are safe and healthy.

Hillis’s NFL career spanned 2008-20014, he played for four teams over this time. He was drafted by the Denver Broncos in the 7th round in 2008.

He was voted in to be the cover of “Madden ’12” video game by fans, after a breakout season in 2010 followed by another good year in 2011.

Hillis retired in 2015 when he was released by the Giants.

In 2022 he made his film debut in “The Hunting”.
