Greg Abbott Expresses His Frustration After Missed Extra Point, ‘I Swear, I can Kick as good as the Dallas Cowboys Kicker’

Texas GOP Governor Greg Abbott, who is wheelchair-bound, expressed his frustration today after a blocked extra point in the Dallas Cowboys-San Francisco 49ers game.

The missed extra point by kicker Brett Maher makes it the fifth time he has missed in the last two games, after four misses in the previous playoff game.

Abbott quipped in a tweet, “I swear, I can kick as good as the Dallas Cowboys kicker.”

Maher’s missed kick kept the game, which is being played in San Francisco, California, at a 6-6 tie and the 49ers took the lead before halftime 9-6 after making a field goal.

According to NFL Research, Maher’s misses put him at the 2nd-most in a postseason career in NFL history.

The only player with more was Roy Gerela in the 1970s, who did so over the course of 15 games, the account noted.

Prior to the start of the game, things were already getting chippy during warm-ups as 49ers players blocked Maher from getting in some pre-game work on their side of the field.

A video showed members of both teams having some words right in front of Maher, who never engaged in the conversation and ultimately was allowed to resume kicking.

Maher made his next kick but ultimately missed four during warm-ups and he also was seen having a chat with the team’s owner Jerry Jones.
