Hillary Clinton Accuses President Trump of Using “Racist Rhetoric” to Distract From Coronavirus “Failures”

Failed 2016 Democratic Presidential nominee Hillary Clinton took to Twitter this morning to criticize President Trump for “failures to take the Coronavirus seriously early on, make tests widely available, and adequately prepare the country for a period of crisis.” She encouraged her followers to not “fall for” his “racist rhetoric” or let their “family and friends fall for it.”

The accusation of “racist rhetoric” would seem to be an allusion to tweets he has recently made where he calls the Coronavirus the “Chinese virus” instead. It is clear though, that the virus originated at a live animal market in China and they recently tried to accuse the US of bringing the virus there.

Hillary’s accusations have some holes for sure as President Trump made some decisions early on that certainly stunted the spread of the virus to the US. In fact, his administration’s decision to “ban most foreign nationals who had been to China in the last two weeks from traveling to the United States” in January was criticized by “Public health experts.”

Clinton recently said she believes Joe Biden would be the strongest Democrat nominee for this election but stopped short of endorsing him. The accusation that President Trump failed to make tests widely available seems to be parroting rhetoric from Biden that was recently debunked.

As far as preparing the nation for a deadly virus while hindsight is always 20/20, President Trump announced the formation of the Coronavirus Task Force in January when there were only five confirmed cases in the US. That task force was responsible for helping him make the decision to close the borders to Europe after discovering they contributed to the spread here and likely prevented further transmissions.
