House Oversight Committee Announces Investigation into Classified Documents Found in Biden’s Post Vice Presidental Office

Almost 24 hours after the news that classified documents had been found by Joe Biden’s lawyers while cleaning out an office he occupied after leaving the vice presidency, the House Oversight Committee announced they would be doing an investigation into the matter.

“BREAKING: The new Republican-controlled U.S. House Committee on Oversight and Accountability launches an investigation into the classified documents that were found at Penn Biden Center from Biden’s vice presidential office”

The documents that were found had different levels of classification including some that were designated highly classified, according to CBS.

Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) sent a letter to White House Counsel Stuart Delery, sharing that they are concerned “President Biden has compromised [intelligence] sources and methods with his own mishandling of classified documents.”

The White House has been asked to turn over all documents and communications that relate to the classified materials found at Biden’s personal office, asking for the documents themselves.

Comer’s letter also asks for a list of people who had access to the office space as well as any communication related to the documents.

Biden worked at the office between 2017 and 2019, CBS reported there are about 10 documents that were marked classified found at the office.

Since the announcement of the investigation, a second batch of documents in another location has now been found. It is currently unclear as NBC News reported the number of documents where they were found or the classification levels.

Attorney General Merrick Garland has assigned John Lausch Jr., a Trump-appointed U.S. Attorney based in Chicago, to review the classified materials as well as investigate how the documents came to be at the private office.

We anticipate more revelations as the investigations continue.
