Idaho Lt. Governor Janice McGeachin Accuses Gov. Little of Revoking ‘Personal Freedoms’ By Rescinding Her EO Against Mask Mandates

After Idaho’s Republican Lt. Governor Janice McGeachin seized an opportunity to institute an Executive Order banning mask mandates in the state while the state’s “RINO” Governor Brad Little was out of the state, he reversed her decision upon his return.

McGeachin was not pleased with Little’s decision, although she likely expected it, and in a statement, she said that Little “chose to revoke your personal freedoms by rescinding my order and imposing mask mandates on thousands of Idaho children, rejecting the conservative solutions embraced by leaders like Gov. Abbott in Texas and Gov. DeSantis in Florida.”

In a statement yesterday to the Associated Press, McGeachin noted that that she’s “been listening to people all across the state with the concern about, especially, why are little kids being forced to wear masks in school” and that she had hoped Little would allow it to stand.

The Idaho Democratic Party tweeted out earlier that they “applaud @GovernorLittle for repealing the petty executive order that would only hurt our communities.” and they accused McGeachin of having “done nothing but threaten the lives of Idahoans as Lt. Governor.”

McGeachin retweeted their tweet and said, “When the democrat party is applauding your actions, especially in a state like Idaho, you pretty much lose the right to call yourself a conservative.”

Last Wednesday, McGeachin announced that she is running for governor, aligning her campaign with an emphasis on individual liberty, state sovereignty and traditional conservative values, which expects to play well in the deeply conservative state.

Little is in his first term as governor of the state, having been elected in 2018 and has not officially announced his intention to seek reelection in next year’s election.

Republican Ed Humphreys also announced his run for governor last week on a platform that included fighting “socialist” agendas, promoting “school choice” and eliminating the state income tax.
