Ilhan Omar Goes On the Offensive, Tells CNN’s Jake Tapper She Believes Kevin McCarthy is ‘A Liar and a Coward’

CNN’s Jake Tapper this morning gave a platform to U.S. House Rep Ilhan Omar (D-MN) to let loose on Republicans after U.S. House Rep Lauren Boebert (R-CO) apologized for making comments that were deemed offensive.

Tapper even led her into it by essentially condemning House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) for supposedly not condemning the comments from Boebert.

“McCarthy is a liar and a coward. He doesn’t have the ability to condemn the kind of bigoted, islamophobic, anti-muslim rhetoric that is being trafficked by a member,” Omar explained, using every buzzword that she could come up with.

Tapper wondered, “Why doesn’t he have the ability to do that?” to which Omar responded, “This is who they are and we have to be able to stand up to them and we have to push them to reckon with the fact that their party right now is normalizing anti-muslim bigotry.”

Omar ultimately parroted a United Nations talking point and suggested, “Islamophobia is on the rise.”

“This isn’t about me, this is about all of the young girls across the country who wear the hijab so proudly, who are afraid for their lives,” Omar added.

It should be noted, however, that many young girls are trying to escape countries like Afghanistan and Iraq, which are under fundamentalist Islamic rule because they are actually afraid for their lives.

In another part of the interview, Omar insisted that Pelosi has assured her that the House will soon take “decisive action” on Boebert.

It almost seems like perhaps that is what Boebert wants to an extent as that will now make three Republicans without committees if that turns out to be the action, which would likely bode well for their appeal.

On the other hand, the apology attempts by Boebert were clearly a waste of time and for McCarthy to tout them like that is going to make some kind of a difference makes Republicans look weak.

Time will tell if any of the actions make a difference as President Joe Biden’s failures will likely drive GOP votes regardless.
